A relaxing bath, an act of self care

A warm bath isn’t just a way to unwind—it’s a real act of self-care.

If you add some Epsom salts, it will allow your body to absorb magnesium transdermally (through the skin). Magnesium helps relieve muscle tension, promote relaxation, and support better sleep.

The warmth and the sensation of water on the skin can activate the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and reducing stress hormones like cortisol. A warm soak also triggers the release of oxytocin—the “love hormone” that boosts feelings of happiness, calm, and connection. Perfect after a long, stressful day!

You can also enhance your bath with essential oils:
💜 Lavender is soothing and calming for both body and mind—perfect for winding down before bed.
🌿 Wintergreen is great for easing sore, aching muscles thanks to its natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Always dilute essential oils in a tablespoon of base oil (like sweet almond, coconut, or olive oil) before adding them to your bath. This helps protect your skin and allows the oils to disperse evenly. And don’t forget to patch test any new oils on a small area of skin first to check for sensitivity.

For an extra layer of emotional support, add a few drops of Bach Flower Remedies to your bath.
🌬️ Can’t calm your racing mind? Add 2 drops of White Chestnut.
📚 Feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities? Try Elm.
🪫 Mentally and physically exhausted? Add Olive.
⚡️ Going through a particularly stressful time? Add Rescue Remedy to help bring immediate calm.

Not sure which remedy is right for you? I offer  consultations in person and via Zoom to help you find the best match.

In the meantime just run the water, add what you need, and let yourself just be. 💛
